We’re looking for a versatile pro with deep technical accounting expertise and a practical perspective—someone who can navigate the gray areas of accounting, while understanding and appreciating the operational challenges of keeping up with the constantly changing accounting landscape. This role includes both an opportunity to provide hands-on accounting consulting support to clients and be a member of RoseRyan’s Technical Accounting Group (TAG). As a resource for consultants and clients, TAG delivers technical accounting and reporting guidance, assists with the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, and provides pre-transaction accounting advisory services that enable our clients to make better decisions when structuring deals. 

CPA Technical Accounting Consultant
Fully remote but potential for in-person at client in the future
Responsibilities:

  • Prepares technical accounting memos and underlying calculations addressing complex transactions
  • Assists clients in implementing new accounting pronouncements
  • Advises clients on accounting implications of significant transactions, assists in structuring the terms of the contracts for favorable accounting outcomes
  • Prepares computations for stock based compensation
  • Prepares footnote disclosures for technical accounting matters
  • Ensures work is delivered on time, on budget, in accordance with RoseRyan’s high-quality standards
  • Communicates with the client and RoseRyan management on the status of engagement and key business developments
  • Actively listens to clients to understand their challenges and expectations, and also anticipates their needs and proactively looks for solutions

Education Level:

Bachelors Degree

Must Haves

  • CPA license
  • 10+ years US external audit experience (Big 4 highly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Expert at writing technical accounting memos on complex issues
  • Ability to prepare spreadsheets and supporting documentation to apply accounting research conclusions to develop necessary journal entries and accounting schedules
  • Strong understanding of SEC compliance requirements regarding footnote disclosures; expertise at drafting technical accounting footnotes
  • Wide breadth of technical accounting knowledge, research experience and application
  • Excellent written and verbal internal and external communications
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to apply concepts from previous experiences to new situations
  • Organized, detail-oriented and excellent listener

Good To Have

  • Expertise with ASC 606 (revenue standards)
  • Expertise with ASC 842 (leasing standards)
  • Expertise with technical accounting related to debt, equity and derivative accounting
  • Expertise with Business Combinations (ASC 805)
  • Software capitalization expertise
  • Consolidations and VIE (variable interest entity) expertise
  • Stock-based compensation experience (ASC 718)
  • IPO expertise (S-1, F-1)
  • Lease Accelerator Software experience
